PGA Tour winner Michael Brennan, aged 23, has revealed the reason behind his disqualification from the Farmers Insurance Open. Brennan, who won the Bank of Utah Championship last season, shot a two-under 70 on the North Course at Torrey Pines on Thursday. However, moments after completing his round, the PGA Tour announced his disqualification due to a breach of Model Local Rule G-11, specifically the use of non-permitted green-reading materials. Brennan, in a detailed Instagram statement, explained that he reported the breach himself. He had been working with a new course data analyst who provided hole locations on green maps to improve his strategy. After the round, he sought clarification on a feature, which led to the realization that he couldn't transcribe details from the diagram into his yardage book. This mistake resulted in his disqualification. Despite the setback, Brennan remains optimistic, looking forward to the upcoming Waste Management Phoenix Open, where he aims to bounce back stronger.
